Erfolgsfaktor Familie

Being family-friendly is part of the philosophy of the WDR mediagroup. By means of extensive measures and instruments, the WDR mediagroup supports its employees in balancing their work and family interests and requirements.

The WDR media group has won several awards for its initiatives.

  • In 2005, the media service provider received, for the very first time, the basic certificate of the "berufundfamilie" audit (on the career and family life balance, an initiative of the Hertie Foundation). In 2008, it was awarded to the WDR mediagroup again in the context of the re-audit process. On 8 December 2011, the WDR mediagroup received the certificate for the third time thanks to successfully passing the berufundfamilie audit yet again.
  • As part of the "Erfolgsfaktor Familie" (Family Success Factor) competition of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, the WDR mediagroup twice received an award in the "medium-sized enterprises" category (2005, 2008).
  • In the spring of 2008, the WDR mediagroup received an award for being one of six family-friendly companies in the communications industry within the framework of the "W&V Familie" competition
  • In the medium-sized enterprise category, the WDR mediagroup was also one of the winners of the "Diversity Wins" competition; the prize was awarded in the summer of 2010. Invited to take part in the competition were all companies and organisations that recognise, promote and make targeted use of the diversity of its employees, and have an independent subsidiary in Cologne.
