History

WDR mediagroup GmbH was founded in 1958 as Westdeutsches Werbefernsehen (WWF) GmbH and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne. Originally, the focus was on marketing advertising time on television and producing and trading TV formats, especially for Das Erste in the early evening. With the expansion of business activities into radio advertising in 1987, the company entered another strong marketing field. In the decades that followed, the company expanded into many other areas of business. In 2004, the company was renamed WDR mediagroup GmbH.
